China in Yorkshire - Leeds

'China in Yorkshire' was a museum and arts festival that took place during 2008 when China hosted the Olympics.  The festival was generously funded by the Heritage Lottery Fund and the Arts Council.

In Leeds the young professional photographer Yan Preston was employed by Leeds Museums and Galleries to work with Leeds Chinese Elders, Leeds Chinese Womens Group, and the Yuk Ming Opera group to involve them in both Leeds exhibitions: Chinese Treasures at Lotherton Hall from 7 June to 31 December, and China, Local and Global at Leeds Central Library, from 6 to 24 August.

The second edition of 'Leeds Chinese Community 2008 Review for China in Yorkshire' was designed by Suna Xie, and includes Derek Hui's interview, which was undertaken by Jenny Cheng in the autumn of 2008.
