The Changing Face of Work in Sheffield

The Changing Face of Work in Sheffield project has provided an insight into how work life has changed in the Sheffield steel industry. Oral testimonies were collected from representatives from large and small steel works, as well as self employed ‘ Little Mester’s' of Sheffield.

These oral histories and Sheffield Industrial Museum Trust’s collection has produced a collection of resources to give a snap shot from three eras – the 1850s, 1950s and 2000s.

Here two apprentices from Sheffield Forgemasters International - Sam Booth and Jonathan Hill - talk about their work in the 2000s and a typical day.
